SOUND
The authentic sound of KAWAI Digital Pianos began with the world renowned KAWAI EX concert grand piano. Placed inside an anechoic chamber, free of audio reflections, the rich sound of this world class grand piano could be perfectly analysed and recorded. From this recording, our Master Piano Artisans recreated a tone of supreme clarity, establishing a new standard in the art of digital piano design.
The DP1 employs a revolutionary sound generation system: samples without loops, string resonance samples, key-release samples, hammer striking samples and countless other audio subtleties combine to provide a richly authentic tone. Beyond the impressive selection of piano voices, the DP1 also offers a range of Electric Piano, String and Bass sounds suitable for various musical occasions.
Adopting a 5.1 surround sound system, the 10 loudspeakers integrated within the DP1 provide an unsurpassed level of acoustic reproduction, allowing adjustments to ambience, reverberation and position for a simply breathtaking experience.

Operation
Simply open the lid and play, just as with a real grand piano. The DP1's control panel is hidden from view until the ACTIVATOR sensor is selected - appearing, as if by magic, with a gentle tap of the touch sensitive, smoked glass surface.
With no external mechanical knobs or switches, the DP1 retains the classic beauty of an acoustic grand piano, adjusting every aspect of the digital piano through its intuitive control panel.

5.1 channel with External Speakers
The 6 analogue Line Out jacks can be used to connect active speakers or mixers. Yet, even with just two active speakers connected, one can still enjoy a rich sound. An integrated 5.1 channel output system recreates the vast acoustic atmosphere that musicians typically associate with large concert halls - connecting all 6 channels to active speakers, allows for the definitive surround sound, digital piano experience.

Effects
Each voice can have up to 4 high-fidelity processing filters applied simultaneous. Chose from a selection of 27, studio quality effects, adjust the desired settings and save for future reference as a USER sound.

User Sounds
All sound adjustments and DUAL/SPLIT settings can be saved to one of the 12 USER SOUND memories and recalled at any time.

Recorder & Audio Player
The DP1 recording function allows up to 100, two track songs to be stored in internal memory. Recordings can be saved as standard MIDI files or MP3 audio, and then copied to any connected USB memory device. The DP1 also supports MP2 audio song playback, offering performers a useful resource for study and practice.

Dual/Split
Naturally, the DP1 offers all the typical functions one would expect from a leading digital piano company, including DUAL and SPLIT modes, allowing musicians to create their favourite sound combinations and enjoy performing with two voices simultaneously.
